About Slip On Flanges

A slip on flange (also known as a hubbed flange or SO flange) is designed to slip over the outside of pipe or tubing. The pipe is inserted into the flange and then fillet welded on both the inside and outside to provide sufficient strength and prevent leakage. Slip on flanges are one of the most common flange types used in industrial piping systems.

Slip on flanges are popular because of their ease of alignment and installation. They require less precision when cutting the pipe to length and are generally lower in cost compared to weld neck flanges. They are suitable for low to moderate pressure and temperature applications.
